I thought I’d take a short peek at the first page or two. Oh, but no! I confess I couldn’t put the book down! C. G. Cooper delivers a compelling, well-written story filled with suspense, intrigue, and danger, along with several surprises.I enthusiastically recommend this exciting reading opportunity from C.G. Cooper! Matters of State is truly a remarkable novel. I have read all the books in the Corps Justice series and found Matters of State & The Man from Belarus to be the worst of the bunch. I've historically given 4 and 5-star reviews but this time, I almost closed the book for good at a third of the way in. I found myself confused and wondered what was taking place as the author jumped around a lot. There was no action, team missions, witty banter between team members and a clear case of who is good and who is bad in the story. I truly believed that a ghostwriter completed these last two books as the personality of CG Cooper was not evident in these two stories. I'm hoping the next installment returns to the ways of old and engages readers from the very start. I can't recommend either of these two books.
