I don't get all the good reviews for this book. It was not written for an adult but rather for a young adult. This plot was boring, flame returns to town to find old girlfriend was just divorced, the dialogue was sophomoric, the characters were not developed , the sub plots were unbelievable not to mention the repetition chapter after chapter after chapter. Some other reviewer used the term LAZY and that's exactly what it seemed to me, the author did a short story in chapter one then kept repeating it over and over and over again. I will not be reading the rest of this series and IMHO I say skip it since it's not worth your time or money. What a sweet, small town romance! This is the first novel that I've read by RaeAnne Thayne and I'm definitely a fan now!Ms. Thayne created a new small town for us readers to visit called Hope's Crossing. A wonderful bunch of characters live there and I fell in love with almost all of them (a couple you weren't supposed to fall for if you catch my drift). Our hero and heroine, Riley and Claire, being the center of Blackberry Summer, were wonderful characters to follow around for about 400 pages.I honestly wished that the book had at least one more chapter to give us more info on how things ended, or should I say started for them as a couple between Claire's needy mother, her great kids and Riley's job as police chief being up in the air. Thank goodness there are SIX more sequels so I can get the skinny on my new favorite couple!This book has virtually no sex scenes aside from one scene of heavy petting that didn't go past second base and ended almost as quickly as it began. There are descriptions of longing and wanting in each character's mind and several kissing scenes but nothing graphic. If you're looking for a more raunchy story, this is not the story for you. There's little usage of swear words (zero F-bombs) and only one scene of "violence," that is one of Riley's memories from working undercover but is not super graphic.I loved this book so much, I read it in two days! If you're looking for a heartwarming romance about two people not looking for love but find it in each other, then this is the book for you!!!
